while everyones raving about b.o.b’s new mixtape, i think people need to take note. giggs, one of the most respected rappers in england right now, is releasing this nice track don’t go alone ft. the rapper from atlanta. these kinds of collabs need to happen more often, there are lots of rappers on both sides of the ocean on the same level of grind and working together brings hits…i mean, have you heard the dan black song ft. kid cudi (check it at holdmycoat.com)? anyway, giggs flow and lyrical prowess combined with b.o.b’s catchy chorus are a recipe for success. check out the song below
ive been doing some very deep thinking…i wish i could say about school. during my 6 hour flight to LA, i couldnt stop thinking about what a stupid name Dizzee Rascal is. i mean, being a rascal is cool and all but how of a rascal can you be if youre DIZZY? i mean, surely disorientation lowers your badass potential. im just sayin…what use are you as a rascal if you cant even stay balanced? ive unlocked the secrets of dizzee rascal…

the sugababes were like the UK destinys child.
here they are back when they formed in 1998.

Keisha, Siobhan, & Mutya. they were good. then…siobhan went to the bathroom in the middle of a label meeting and never came back.

Mutya, Heidi and Keisha. with this lineup, the sugababes were at their finest releasing hit after hit yet maintaining credibility. then mutya got preggers and left the group.

Amella, Heidi and Keisha. this is when shit started going downhill…you know things are bad when this happens:
sugababes ft. girls aloud - walk this way
singlehandedly one of the worst cover versions i have ever heard in my life. and now…things get really ugly.
heidi (from sugababes 2.0) and amelle (from sugababes 3.0) KICK OUT THE ONLY ORIGINAL SUGABABE FROM HER OWN BAND. honestly…this caused public outrage and most of their fans to give up.
today, my friends, i have to share with you what has to be the worst song i have heard this year. if its not bad enough that they plagiarized from BRITNEY SPEARS, this song has meaningless lyrics, a generic beat, and the kind of bubblegum pop melody that is precisely why people preferred sugababes over other girlbands from the late 90s-00s.
jade ewen might have a good voice but she adding a past eurovision failure to your credible girlgroup is career suicide. so RIP sugababes, i enjoyed the wonder years!
Okay…so I know this blog is about British music…but to be fair, his stage name DOES incorporate our famous capital! Here is Theophilus London’s newely released video for humdrum town. Although a guaranteed smash in the US, on this end he’s built up a lot of hype with praise and backing from the NME, the Times, and Radio 1 airplay. Also, exciting news that he will be speaking to my major in March - will be interesting to see what he has to say as an up-and-coming artist. Be sure to download ‘This Charming Mixtape’ and follow him on Twitter. Also worth checking out is his side project with Mark Ronson and Sam Sparro called Chauffeur - below is a clip of Soles on Fire live.

the UK have launched an initiative (you have no idea how many attempts it took me to spell that right…) for the ‘national year of music’ to encourage kids to get a musical education. the launch for this involved Jamie Callum, VV Brown, and Killa Kela teaching a music lesson which was streamed live to schools nationwide. i think this is a great idea, i wish it existed when i was in primary school! here is the aforementioned collaboration, very cool. more info here
although the first line of this song sounds like a sleazy chat up line from jersey shore, this song has grown on me rapidly. its getting massive exposure on tv and radio, but im not sure if id have heard it if i wasnt currently in the UK. data records (with ministry of sound) have been doing really well for themselves with charting hits recently.
heard this on the radio the other day and its been stuck in my head since. i remember when this was huuuge
stronebridge - put em high
it reminded me of a song i first heard 10 years ago. now, i really think the part from 30 seconds to around 1 min 40 NEEDS to be sampled as a hip hop beat. it just needs to happen.
