its pretty clear by this point that i love jamie t. his sophomore album, kings and queens, is probably my most played cd this year so far. he reworked emily’s heart and released it as a single…the new version is much better than the old, but opinions vary. there are many love songs, and too many to mention are about cheats. but jamie manages to make it feel like a fresh topic by speaking from the perspective of the guilty, and comparing his guilt to being shot. by the end of the song, you dont know whether to feel more pity for jamie or emily! this song is so sad, but the reworked version makes it sound a bit more like an epic tale with the sonic buildup, whereas the original is much more subdued with a focus more on the words themselves than the music. check it out:
